A podcast is an audio recording that is shared on the internet. In a simpler term, it is like saying a radio programme but it doesn’t run on the radio but on the internet.
This can be about just anything, your passion, hobbies, or expertise; can be just friends chitchatting about what interests them or deep dive into your special field. You can host it alone or with someone.
People start podcasts for many reasons. You may be wondering why you see most podcasts you see out there with weird names at that, so you ask why start a podcast?

There are many reasons you should start a podcast, podcasts are becoming extremely popular as the day goes by, should that be a reason you jump in?
Before you jump in, you need to understand why it is important to start a podcast in 2022 and beyond and I will be sharing just that.
- BUILD AUTHORITY: A lot of podcasts out there are built on expertise, that is to say, people talk about what they are knowledgeable about. This helps them in being an authority in a field. Writing about something can make you an authority in a matter of weeks, imagine how people hearing your voice as you recommend things could make you! Talking is weightier than writing, to a large extent. Therefore, to build authority in your chosen niche, don’t run the year over without starting a podcast.
- BE HEARD: The world is a noisy place, and very competitive at that! People want to be heard and so do you, don’t you? Exactly why you should start a podcast. So, you have a success story with having your natural hair grow without shrinking? Start a podcast for people who want to start that journey. You can write proposals? Start a podcast sharing your tips and tricks- you will be heard and you will certainly become an authority at the end.
- BUILD AN AUDIENCE: This should have been somewhere among the first two, but breaking rules is interesting *winks* Starting a podcast can help you build a dedicated loyal audience, much like saying a tribe of people who are consistently following you. This is possible because audio is easy and more conversational at times than any other format of broadcast.
How to build a podcast community
- IT IS PERSONAL: Podcasting is a very personal form of presentation, and as such, it is very accommodating as it endears people to you and what you share. So the more informal you sound on your podcast, the more endearing it can be. That format has been, even on radio, magnetic.
- A LONG FORM CONTENT: If you are a business, podcasting can be a form of content, long and educating, while keeping your customers entertained.
